Our Synod Themes
On Synod Sunday, 13 October 2019, our Synod Themes were announced around the Archdiocese. These four Themes will be the focus of the next stage of our Synod Journey and the focus of our prayer, reflection, and discernment over the coming months.
Our Synod Themes are:
The next task is to generate the proposals for action within each Theme. These proposals will be taken forward to the Synod Day in October 2020 to be voted on.
Synod Members will be working locally to create opportunities for us all to engage with the Themes, reflect on how they challenge and inspire us, and generate proposals that will help us to become the Church God is calling us to be.
Themes will be considered one-by-one with each having their own specific period of reflection:
- 20 October - 17 November 2019: All called and gifted by God
- 17 November - 15 December 2019: Sharing the mission of Jesus
- 19 January - 16 February 2020: How we pray together
- 16 February - 15 March 2020: Building community, nurturing belonging
Alongside the local discernment there will also be an opportunity for people to submit a proposal via this website.
Please do look out for and get involved in your local Synod events as we continue this great task of discerning the Church God is calling us to be.
